Also, think about the time it takes to figure out which computer to get, drag such from the store, drive to the seller's home, or wait for it to be shipped, move all your files, get used to it, etc., etc.
I am upgrading my G4 just because I like it. I am keeping it for a couple more years. I did spent $250 on a new processor for it altho this may not actually be smart in terms of dollars and sense. If I get rid of it, I also have to either spend time selling it for something or find a home for it. I cannot bear to throw it away, the G4 Quicksilver case is one of the most beautiful Apple ever made. I know the poster has decided to go with G5. He also has the slower 450Mhz processor there. But for all of us thinking about when to upgrade, and what to upgrade to - the time factor and love factor is what has governed my decision to keep my beloved dinosaur. I also don't need to watch movies on it or edit video - it's fine for what I do.
