There are USB extension cables. I use them on 2 different setups. > > I did put to sleep, then unplugged the hub, but this didn't help > it. Still woke right up. But I want to take the test further, as > maybe unplugging the hub sent a signal. are you having a problems with it not staying in Sleep mode, or not waking up everything? unplugging something, or shutting down a USB device, can cause temporary issues ... e.g., I get a kp on next Startup if I shut down my machine before I turn off my Yamaha USB/ MIDI connected keyboard ... maybe a Yamaha USB Driver issue ... just need to follow a "Startup ... Connect ... Use ... Disconnect ... Shutdown" protocol ... jostling a desk / mouse can cause it to wake ... > > My other question is, what is the harm of not using Sleep? Not using Sleep might be "just" a green thing ... i believe spinning a HD down and up is more harmful than leaving it alone, spinning ... > > I think Bruce Johnson said Not Sleeping can be a sign of a hardware > problem. What kinds of hardware problems? Not sure ... PCI cards that do not allow sleep ... that's sort of a hardware problem ... Good luck ... on my out now to a Memorial Service ...
