AppleWorks 6 runs just fine on any x86 Mac, within Rosetta on Tiger or Leopard.

It should be noted that there are TWO releases of AppleWorks 6.
There's the earlier one that's built for OS 8/9, but can run under
Classic on OS X. Then there's version 6.2.7 (and later), which is a
native build for OS X - so it doesn't require Classic. It is that
later build that's required to run under Rosetta on x86 Macs.

Sometime in ?2004?, Apple began distributing the OS X build for free,
as part of the normal AppleWorks 6 updater.
