Actually, no it wasn't that much of a backstep, but that was mainly because the apps people used on those types of systems were not universal at the time. People were trumpeting how their G5's were smoking the new 'Intel' supposed power houses when they were comparing apps running natively on the G5 to apps running in emulation on the Intels.
