On the other hand some applications are already Intel only. It's probably so that some applications are so expensive anyway that users are required to by a newer Mac to use it. And they don't even care either, because this is just a requirement they have to fulfill for using the software. For some it may be the final reason why to buy a newer computer and dump a still working one.
