Yes my first real computer was a 1040STe. It had built in midi ports. At the
time I was interested in home computers but couldn't see the application. Then
I bought a Yamaha QY10 synth/sequencer and there was a program available for
the Atari which stored the memory contents of the QY10 (via the midi ports). So
I bought one. In the UK this was much cheaper than a Mac. I still have the QY10
:-)

My Xserve G4 won't sleep with it in. Do you have the same problem?

I tried ProTools but, creatively, I didn't like it. I had it in a Dual G4
450MHz AGP with an Audiomedia 3 pci card. I had to run a version of Panther to
make it work, no updates possible.

I really like Ableton Live (I have version 7) and it runs on both Macs and PC's.

I'll update the list when I get my M-Audio 1814 firewire box!

Cheers,
John
