Ummm... I have witnessed irrevocable data loss from each and every one
of those scenarios.

The key questions to ask yourself:

How much is my stuff worth to me?

How much will it cost me to recreate all of it?

If your answer to the second question involved financing research into
practical methods of time travel, you need a better backup strategy.

Besides, corporations, Google and the Internet Archive are keeping the
hard drive industry afloat. Drive sales to individual users are a
vanishingly small segment of the industry.
