Hi, I messed up BIG time!

After installing a new HDD, I pressed the ON/OFF button a couple of
times upon seeing that the HDD is not recognised (the multi-colored
wheel kept on spinning when I clicked on the new HDD icon). I know I
should not do that but that's too late now!

Now, the G4 just shows the grey screen with the Apple logo and is
stuck there. I suspect I may have destroyed the boot record by
pressing the ON?OFF switch a few times.

I am trying to boot using the 10.5 install disk (Retail) but it just
don't work. I booted up G4 while pressing the Option button but the
screen show both the install CD and my system HDD marked "X".

What should I do? I would really appreciate some advice! Thanks!

Patrick
