Just got this computer, a dual 1.25 MDD for my son. Got it fired up with Tiger.
The machine, in general, screams (at least by my modest Quicksilver standards). One problem now, and it's not small: the internal CD/DVD drive will open and close, but it shows no signs of spinning a disk. I put a disk in, I hear no activity, I see no desktop icon for the inserted disk (seemingly irrespective of what it is). I checked the snugness of the ATA and power connections, and I pushed the internal PRAM button for 30 seconds while powered down and plugged in. No difference. I have no idea whatsoever whether the drive worked before, and no way to find out. System Profiler lists it as a Pioneer CD/DVD burner, probably OEM (it seems like everything else in the machine is). Any reason to believe the drive isn't dead, and/or any remaining tests, procedures or paramedic help I've not yet tried?
