---------- Original message ---------- Subject: Is this internal CD/DVD drive positively dead? Date: Montag 04 Januar 2010N From: tonycd <[email protected]> To: "G-Group" <[email protected]>
> Any reason to believe the drive isn't dead, and/or any remaining > tests, procedures or paramedic help I've not yet tried? I'd say, the only thing that is left to try is booting from the drive. If it boots, it _may be_ a software problem, e.g. the Mac OS X installation has a problem with the optical drive. If it doesn't boot (doesn't spin) then the drive is faulty. You could take the one from you Quicksilver, if you still have it around. Otherwise just buy any ATAPI drive, they are really cheap nowerdays... Happy New Year!
