I have had the same problem whenever I burn dvds, even at lower speeds, it still has trouble. I was wondering if it was some kind of format error, but I checked through disk utility on my beige G3 and i knew you were right. I did burn at a lower speed and it worked, but still sometimes the DVD drive overheated.
