My Dual-450 processors don't use thermal paste. My guess is the Dual-500 
doesn't need thermal paste either, so you're lucky.

You get a classic PowerPC Mac real cheap these days (as long as it's not a 
1.42 GHz G4 or a Quad G5). But if you really want computing power, modern AMD 
or Intel processors is what you're looking for. A recent AMD Phenom II is way 
faster than any G4 or G5 could be, not to mention Intel's i5/i7. Even i3 will 
outperform every 5+ year old PowerPC Mac.

You'll get those PCs for $400+ and that's what they are worth. (It all depends 
on the configuration, e.g. USB 3.0 and so on…)

But yeah – PCs don't feature Mac OS X!
