Yes.
Imagin the monitor (or any part for it, like a calbe, connector, anything…) 
brakes exactly at this moment when you dicide to switch the SATA cables for 
the hard drive.

It is rare but things like these happen.

Okay, so you checked with Linux. If it does work on the very same computer, 
you can drop that theory of mine.
