Don't think so. With a slight difference in MHz, and the G3 lacking Altivec (often used in video), it could be even worse.
Perhaps installing a faster G4 CPU upgrade might be an improvement... but it depends on how much will it cost. (I have a G4 DA 667, upgraded with an OWC 1.4 GHz CPU, and it was well worth the cost). If you find a G4 MDD 1.25 GHz for a fair price, it will probably outperfom your G4 with an CPU upgrade.
