Sounds like you have an 867mhz Quicksilver. I doubt that an upgraded G3 would likely even equal what you have for video work. If you want more speed you have a few choices depending on budget and maybe where you live.
You could get a processor upgrade for your machine. I may be mistaken but I think all the manufacturers have discontinued production so you'd have to find a used one. another option if you still need to boot OS9 is a faster G4. A dual processor MDD of 1 ghz or faster would easily outperform your G4. A quick look on my local craigs list shows one for $20. If your budget runs to a bit more Craigs list shows a number of choices between $200-300 Also Apple has some deals on their refurb list http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/specialdeals/mac?mco=OTY2ODY3Nw On Jun 7, 7:47 am, Tanner Musyj <[email protected]> wrote: > I'm wondering if i would be worth it to replace my currrent PowerMac > G4 867Mhz with a G3 of some sort with a 1GHz processor upgrade.
