The LaCie driver does indeed only work for its card, and it enforces its
ownership over both the card and ANY attached USB 3.0 devices.

However, the LaCie driver is Universal, NOT Intel.

REPEAT ... Universal, NOT Intel.

You can find a hacked version of the LaCie driver on the 'Net, and the
hacked driver has been hacked to allow BOTH non-LaCie external devices AND
non-LaCie host cards. This includes ALL generic USB 3.0 external devices
and ALL generic USB 3.0 cards (provided the cards are either Renesas- or
Etron-based).

The name of the driver is PXHCD.kext.
