Same as under 10.3/Panther. Under 10.4/Tiger I didn't install stuff, but did 
normal work: using CCC, running TenFourFox with a WebM video from Youtube. 
Fans didn't slowly wind up and down again.

Exactly my thinking. And the reason for me asking.
