A few days ago Facebook instituted a script that checked the version of Adobe Flash Player before playing a flash video, and if the Flash Player version was not the most current version, it would give an error message saying you needed to update your Flash Player, and won't allow the video to play.

I believe some other sites have also instituted this Flash Player test. Since Adobe quit supporting PPC Macs at v.10.1.102.64, and the current version is 11.1.102.55, it appeared that we PPC users were out- of-luck and seeing our access to Flash content being curtailed.

Fortunately, there's a solution. This seems crazy, but they're saying that the current version and all previous versions that were "Intel only" actually work fine on PPC Macs, the problem is that Adobe's installer won't allow the installation. You need to manually move the current version of "Flash Player.plugin" into Library>Internet Plug- Ins and then repair the permissions. You can trash the old version of the file, or compress it and save it as an "old" version.

Once you manually install this and quit and relaunch your browser you'll have the latest Flash Player and no websites including Facebook will give you an error message about needing to update Flash Player. It works fine.

The problem is you'd need an Intel Mac to get the current version from, or you can download it ready to install manually from here:

I think this is a Godsend. We PPC users have struggled with lack of current Flash Player support long enough, I can't believe it's this simple, but it works, I've tried it. You can check your Flash Player version here:
<http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/>

After manually installing the current version, you'll see "You have version 11,1,102,55 installed" and be able to play Flash content on all websites without error messages.

I'm relating this which I found on a new, obscure Facebook page called "PPC Macs" here:
