No. They run the gamut from plain tray-loading CD-roms to slot-loading DVD+-RW/DL RW mechanisms, not surprising for a computer that's had 5 complete redesigns and 23 official models over the years... If you want an exhaustive list, go to Apple's support site and browse through the specifications for the various models. <http://support.apple.com/specs/#imac> If you have a specific model you need info on ask here. Basically the earliest G3 iMacs and the G4 iMacs used tray-loading ATA devices, later model G3 imacs used a slot loading device of some sort (I've never actually seen one, so I'm not sure about the form factor, but I'll wager it's a slip laptop-style model, I've never seen a half-height-slot loading optical drive) and all the rest use laptop style slot loading devices, ATA and SATA, again, I'm not sure when they did that transition. Specific drive model support varies, depending on OS; OS X 10.4 or later supports any standard drive that physically fits. -- Bruce Johnson University of Arizona College of Pharmacy Information Technology Group Institutions do not have opinions, merely customs -- You received this message because you are a member of G-Group, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs.
