is the temp answer, with 2 screens running, to make the internal
screen the secondary screen?

form factor is notorious for LCD failure,
Think about how many times you've seen a LEM Swap member looking
for a good LCD for a 17" Intel iMac, then check the going price for
a used one on eBay (@$200), if you doubt me. Been there, done that.
