Hi, listers. I know many of you are interested where we are with the Monty patch. I'm glad to say it is almost ready for release. I am expecting it to hit the web site in the next 24 to 48 hours or so. I'll be given a more specific time when I know for certain when I plan to post. Since you all want to know what is going on I am pasting in the release notes from today which will explain all the major changes and updates done to the game so far.
Montezuma's Revenge Release Notes July 7, 2006 The following patch release contains a number of changes and bug fixes since version Alpha 1. Please, read this document to find out important changes since Alpha 1. In the previous release the spacebar or numpad 0 key was held down followed by an arrow key to jump. In this patch to jump simply press spacebar or numpad 0 and Angela will jump in the direction she is facing. See manual for more information on jumping. In the previous release sometimes Angela would unexpectedly die when jumping. This error has been corrected, and all tests to this point indicate this error is completely gone. In the prier release it was possible to jump through the ceiling to other levels in the temple. This bug has been corrected, and it is no longer possible to jump through the ceiling. In the previous release there was an error where Angela could climb up ropes and then climb through the ceiling. This bug has now been corrected, and climbing ropes now acts normally stopping Angela at the top of a rope. At the beginning of temple 1 the monster detection key, m, would announce a snake which was not there. This error has been removed, and monster detection now appears to be working properly. In the prier release there was a bug where the object scan key, o, would not find scrolls, torches, and ropes. This bug has been corrected, and is working now. Sometimes when walking through the temple Angela would freeze and would not move. An error was discovered in the level1.map file which has now been corrected. Traveling through the temple without freezing should work at this point. In the first release of Alpha 1 Angela would fall off of ladders when she went to far left or right. This has now been changed. It is now no longer possible for Angela to fall off a ladder. In the previous release when Angela ran int to walls and ceilings Angela would scream. This behavior has been changed to simply have Angela let out a simple gasp. New in this release you can now view a map of temple 1. To view the map press v, and escape will exit. Use the arrow keys, numpad navigation keys, or other movement keys to navigate the map. For more information on viewing the map see the official manual. In the first release of Alpha 1 there was an error in the way sounds were rendered. This has been corrected, and sounds should sound more balanced and natural.
