Thats true tom.
there has not been much need really.
Its not like we have majorly bloody graphics.
games like shades of doom, swamp tank commander and lonewolf could bee seen as adult but with most games being mainly stratogy, arcade, card and board and if anything the violence in even games like swamp is really light as it is. There is a level in a particular game on the ps I forget where you are a terrorist shooting people, there are other violent games more violent then even our games. I don't know if the system applies to us or rather if all of it would apply to us. maybe eventually when we start picking up again, but then most of the games are free or low budget.
most won't even see the mainstreamer community.
I am not discounting that for those that are religious on here parents and others a like some of the game concepts could be offensive but its no more than that. I mean can you imagine after playing shades of doom or swamp that you would pick up a rifle and start shooting people unless you were crazy as?
swamp probably is a game that could be almost to realistic but even then.
without true 3d sound it doesn't seem real and even then gamers are still wedded to keyboards, mice and joysticks.
aprones 3d headset and braille mouse may change things some but not much.
Eventually we may catch up with the mainstreamers we have caught up in technology to a large extent as well as concepts such as multiplayer so little needs to be improved well keeping up ofcause but even so we are on the same page for at least bits and bobs.
In the future we may in deed need a rating system.
once all our games are running on the same level as mainstreamers with the same hardware.
and not running on old languages like vb6 and requiring almost not much to run.
right now we are in a class of our own.
and while a few newer games are average to good maybe in sighted arieas I bet that most of the older games are crap to low grade on the sighted radar if they even are detected. I am not sure how the rating system for normal games would apply, we should have our own rating system.
adult maybe violent and kids or something.
sertainly I can see little need right now for a rating system but then I have never actually took much notice in the rating system though I know one exists. Most of my friends seem to just play games whatever the rating they are old enough though around my age.

Hi Charles,

Well, that also is a good point. One thing I haven't scene too much in
this community is a lot of game developers don't use the age rating
system developed by the mainstream developers such as E for everyone,
T for teen, M for mature, and A for adult. This would help a
perspective parent quickly locate games with the proper rating by
looking for games rated E if they have a child and don't want games
with a T or M rating. At the very least a game can be given a rating
of suitable for ages 7 and older or 13 and older, or 18 and older so
that a parent can easily find games appropriate for their youngsters.

Cheers!
