Hi Dark, The original and the USA Games version of Montezuma's Revenge is all about memory as well as skill. Gems will always be in their own locations. Yeah they will be in out of the way places, and as you play it will be up to you to figure out where all of them are located. Jumping is much easier than in the Alchemy demo and the Alpha 1 demo, but that doesn't mean the game itself is any easier. Monsters move fast, and your actions have to be quick, especially on insane, to keep from being skull, snake, or spider chow.
