Hi Bryan, Perhaps so. Since he or she is going to get asked how to play it anyway he or she might as well just not supply a manual and tell the end users since nobody reads them from now on no manuals or other documentation will be supplied.
In all seriousness this is what mainstream companies and indie developers are doing. Instead of manuals they now supply in game help tips and instructions in game so people can learn as they go. They often have a training level which tells the gamer which keys do what, talk through them through basic mechanics, which takes ample time to create but apparently is more useful than manuals.
