Canary creams are based on custard creams, which are a fairly common biscuite type in Britain.

The best way of describing them is similar to orios in the states, ie, two biscuites stuck together with creamy stuff, accept that the biscuites are smaller and oblong, are a bit more crunchy, and the cream stuff in the middle isn't as sweet or quite as thick in orios. I'm not sure where the "custard" part comes from, though the biscuits are a light colour, though not quite yellow like custard.
