Hi Trouble and all, Yes, there is allot more to running a "game company" than just writing the software. Things I suspect our teen age and younger members haven't had the experience with yet. For example, if someone wants to start a game company that licenses and sells accessible games there are allot of financial considerations involved that a teen ager probably doesn't have a clue about. Are they going to become incorperated, a limited liability corperation, run it without being incorperated, etc... Everything you sell in the USA has an income tax attached to it. Let's assume you sell up to $5000 in games per month or year, etc... Well, the owner of accessible game company will have to pay out at least $1600 to income taxes. There are ways of course to legally reduce that amount by purchasing things which you can use as a tax write off like software upgrades, new computer, etc. Then, file it with the IRS as a business expense. Not only that then we are talking about bank accounts. I don't know what the legal age is for holding a private or business account at a bank, but I am sure they won't allow say a 12 or 13 year old to hold such an account without a cosigner of some sort. Ok, I know our younger members say that is to much trouble, and I will write my games for free. Again even that isn't without it's troubles. Let's assume game dev x writes a free game and posts it on the web. Are they going to offer free tech support as well? If so they need to know how to trouble shoot issues such as if the end users Sapi gets broken you should have some ideas how to fix it. If their libraries are missing you need to figure out which ones are missing, and inform them how to get the proper ones installed. There are all kinds of end user stuff that can pop up as I have seen with STFC and Monty.
