No trouble missy, I admit the hole business of Zcode games gets rather
complicated.

when you open win frotz, if you go to the "files of type" list you'll notice
it has a couple of types available.

Z code is the most common type for text adventure games, ---- and the file
extentions will be Z5 or Z8 (occasionally other numbers as well, but most
commonly z5 or Z8).

you can just open these in win frotz, no extracting or anything else
necessary.

the other type of games Win frotz deals with are the old infocom games, ----
often with a file extention of dat (not anything to do with the dat data
files some programs use).

wishbringer for instance, is one of those.

You might also come across some infocom games with a file extention of
zip, ---- this is very confusing, as they aren't compressed files, it was
just the name of the file format used at the time (the games were written a
long time before the hole zipping thing came about), the highly fun King
arthur game is one of these.

When you start Win frotz, just set the "files of type" list box to either "Z
code files Z, blb" or "infocom files dat, zip), depending upon what sort of
file it is, and then open the file.

Hth.

Beware the Grue! (who's unpleasant nature you are just about to discover,
hehehehe!),

Dark.

because the infocom games are old doss programs, you'll often find a lot of
extra files with them to do with running in doss, but the only files you'll
need to play the games are either the Z5 or Z8 files, or the Dat or zip
files, so you can delete all the rest.
