Hi Yohandy,
The problem with charging a monthly fee for the use of Genesis is I have
to have a way to insure payment from the subscribers and a way to
deactivate the product if they don't pay up.
With software like Genesis the only way that could work is offer a
monthly product key which would unlock the editor for one month before
expiring. Obviously, something like this would get really tedious
especially since once Genesis 3D is finished it will be my primary
development tool.
Generally subscriptions are ok for big RPG games, internet book clubs,
etc as you can easily suspend the account for the user until payment is
recieved. With a software product they don't work out that easy. It
would require monthly downloads, product keys, and no developer is going
to want to download a new version every month just to maintain a
subscription.
Though, it might work out alright if it was a yearly subscription. Then
again, a yearly subscription will dramatically increase costs lumping
all 12 months into one lump sum. Again most people won't pay do to the
price tag.
