Well tom, even though my thesis is in the field of theoretical ethics, one reason for me spending the 3-5 years writing the thing is that hopefully it should have some fairly practical applications in thinking about disability and related matters.
one of the major points I'm working on is bringing the notion of effort into disability, sinse a lot of the literature, ---- on wellbeing ahd happiness as well as disability, simply talks in fairly standard terms of "do or do not, there is no try" To get back to game accessibility though, considdering effort, even a game that outputs text might very much imho be not accesible, though it's readable via screen readers, it all depends upon the effort involved. smugglers 3 seems fine, but how about aski graphics games? or how about games like chess where i's necessary to review a large area of information and spacial relations, which a person with site is able to do at one glance, where as going through it slowly in audio one square at a time requires a lot more memory on the part of the player. Appologies for sounding defeatist, but it does seem important to have a distinction here, particularly when discussing accessibility with people like game developers. Beware the Grue!
