also worth noting that newer dotnets will require directx to be reloaded, I usually install dotnet 1.1, 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5 and then get all updates and load them, and once very update is loaded including service packs and the like I then install directx. you can do it that way but if you do it just loading dx, first before dotnet or after you have loaded dotnet and you update it or install another dotnet set then you invalidate the install. However I usually install directx9 first, load all the dotnet and reinstall, as ita easier and faster to reinitualise dx on all the dotnets rather then the wait to install everything.
