You could also find out at the bowling alley, if they have bowling rail.

This is normally sets at the start of the run away.  The bowler can either 
run their hand along the rail to steady themselfs before the slid.  The rail 
can also be used to cordinate the blind bowler.

If not available, the best thing is have a sight person give some info 
before the match.
Where you can count off your step from side to side and your approach.
Then you can retain this info when the match starts.
The five pocket points where you want the ball to swing overduring your 
release is hard enough for sight person to get
in one release.  I always had a hatch in my swing so I would had to step 
further to the right or left.

Finally only to get good at some thing is practice and even if you are 
taking direction from some one behind you to help pick up the 7-  10 split 
the helper needs practice.
Since they are have a different view point being and off the run way.
Lastly many beers don't help that perspective.
