Actually, the only difference between DirectX 10 and directX 9 is DirectX 10 comes with a newer more powerful Direct3D graphics library. Otherwise DirectSound, DirectInput, are the same versions that ship with 9. However, both DirectX 9 and 10 are being upgraded with the XNA framework that is replacing many of the older libraries. XAudio and Xaudio2 are scheduled to replace DirectSound, and XInput is scheduled to replace DirectInput at some point.
