I must confess I'm in the same position. I beat the first two missions
of the game a couple of years ago, was really pleased with myself and
got as far as mission 4, ---- though targiting those circling destroyers
was a right pain, and I couldn't get the one going at 30 nots at all!
In the end I completed mission 4 by a very symple process, lowering my
sub to below detection range, lining myself up in position to take out
an aircraft carrier, then popping up, unloading torpedos like nobody's
business, then popping down again!
This was a slow process, but I was eventually victorious!
Right now though, ---- even mission 1 is giving me trouble!

coming off the aircraft caryer. I haven't and the highest mission I
