I'm afraid thomas is right here. hal has no trouble actually reading the screen, but unlike all the configured voice options, cannot output game text directly, so you end up being rather behind what is output as you try to read it with vf.

For this reason, with Lonewolf, as indeed with most other accessible games that work via directly outputting speech to a screen reader rather than by on screen readable text, I would recommend using sapi.


In fact, sinse there are a variety of games like jim's which only! have sapi as a choice of direct output, a good sapi voice is a pretty good investment generally.
