Hi, Agreed. The mouse touch pad on most laptops will work, but using a physical USB optical mouse will work much better with games like this.
For example, we have just added mouse support to Mysteries of the Ancients beta 17. Although we do support mouse touch pads they really aren't that good for games in general. They don't have enough buttons, they are too sensative for good mouse control, and I personally couldn't get the game to respond the same way as I could with a basic USB optical mouse hooked up to my laptop. So in the documentation we specifically recommend a USB optical mouse with three or more buttons on it for gaming. Cheers!
