Well defenders usually stand in prime positions and shoot zombies, though they do search for crates if they need to. Usually the ones that have the most weapons or that choose to can become a defender.
This helps in cases where you start with a little load out.
Ofcause positions change from time to time.

I've been on several missions recently in which there is a number of people who either just stay at the truck or only shoot zombies and don't turn in crates. I'd like some confirmation on what the exact definition is of a truck sitter. Also, I'd really like to see a way to stop people from coming on the mission, or to report truck sitters while your still in game. On a similar note, one way to deal with the player name graphics might be to add the name to the player ping command, so that when you activate the feature, the name is spoken along with the little blip that represents players.
