Hi dentin.

I don't actually mind the fast fights as such, sinse I enjoy reacting to what my character does, --- -eg, so your hocking spells at me? well that will be a c feeble mind then, or if your fast, I'll be casting weakne.

My problem is having the time to look around areas, look at monsters etc. The preview command would indeed help very much there I think, sinse there have been several monsters, ----like the evil wizard at the end of the swamp in north arkase, that I've really wanted to get an idea of, but couldn't due to their aggressive attacks.

The over all timing thing I don't mind so much, sinse it's part of the game and does make for stimulation, I just miss the exploration and atmospheric factor in a turn based affair that waits for your input.

One thing Materiamagica had that I really liked, is that once you died, you'd spend ten minutes as a ghost before you came back unless someone resurrected you from your corpse of course.

As a ghost, you could either wander the realm of the dead which was a huge maze, looking for the old man of death who would give you an early revival, chat or play games with other players, or (and this was imho the interesting part), use three vials you would find yourself holding upon your death.

When drinking each vile, you'd be teleported to a random location somewhere in the world, and could wander about and explore it, look at mobs and objects, but being an insubstantial spirit, you couldn't interact with anything, and nothing could interact with you.

Thus, you could spend your dead moments exploring some distant location you hadn't been too in life, ---- in fact for me I always found that death in materiamagica wasn't so bad even counting the xp penalty (though as I said the level locked quests really got on my whick).

While I'm not suggesting that something like this be implemented in alter, I did think it was quite an interesting idea, to wander the world as an insubstantial tourist post death, rather than instant revival.

Beware the grue!

Dark.
