N2 content is EXACTLY the differentiation between "SYNGAS" and "Producer
Gas"

# I assume that you are referring to "Synthesis Gas", rather than "Synthetic gas." That being the case, I would disagree with you. :-) From what I can understand, the various "Synthesis Gas Processes" require high pressure, and as a consequence, the need to compress a large quantity of nitrogen dilutent makes the processes generally uneconomic. Your statement would thus be true, at teh present. However, if someone develops a synthesis gas process of some sort that only requires low pressure, then the presence of excess nitrogen from an air blown gas producer would not necessarily be an obstacle to using such gas for synthesis purposes.

# I would suggest that "Synthesis Gas" is "any gas mixture that will serve as feed to a process where another product is synthesised." "Synthesis Gas" should thus be defined by its chemical analysis, rather than the method of production. Note also that a gas mixture that is perfect for one process may be totally unsuitable for feeding to another process.

Best wishes,

Kevin Chisholm
