The camera shutter is interlinked, to operate the leaves in unison.
To seal around a log, they would do better to be spring loaded
individually. At this scale, weights could substitute for springs,
where needed. A band clamp might be used to hold them all open.

I haven't seen any plans on how to build one, but for starters, if
you had an old camera, ready for discard, you could take it apart
carefully, to see the principles of operation.
