Olli,

Thanks for sharing a great clip.

It looks like "Shell" had a monpoly in Finland at that time!

Would it just be the woodgas that is run through the compressor (I thinks
its a Rootes blower supercharger shown rather than a turbo) or the woodgas
and air mix?

My limited experiments of running a spark ignition converted diesel engine
on woodgas suggest that the output power of the engine improves at higher
compression ratios. It the single cylinder Lister engine we converted ar
Allpower Labs, we used a compression ratio of about 13.5:1 and intend to do
tests at higher ratios right up to the 17:1 supported by the standard Lister
CS engine.

Compressing the gas/air mixture in the cylinder of a diesel engine to a
higher compression ratio is similar in principle to using an external
compressor.

Hopefully we will have a stationary engine which can be started on diesel or
biofuel, and then switch over to woodgas and spark ignition.
