Dear BPJ,
All the gases you have talked about, simply goes as smoke. If you do not burn (in carbonization we burn them, if we do retort carbonization, we used Chris Adams designs, we can set up pipes to distill the wood vinegar). When we are talking about only drying wood in a slower way, we do not get all these volatiles. They only come out in a faster drying ( or carbonize ). We burn 3 tons of sawdust wooden briquettes. Burning time is usually 48 hours which equals about 6 MW of thermal power. I used this gas before to heat my saw dust rotary dryer. My galvanized pipes last only 4 weeks. Than we gave up and started distilling the smoke. We got almost 3 tons of wood vinegar a month, unfortunately there was no buyers. Wood vinegar is mostly used in Japan, I guess the supply was more than the demand. Still have 10 tons of liquid smoke (wood vinegar) can not give a way.
Regards,
Robert
