John,

You are obviously someone who sees the altruistic value of giving to the
University. For most, it isn't that easy. The best example of the value of
football in bringing more service/money to the table is Mr. Twobits. He
didn't even go to UF. He went to the Citadel. Yet, he did as much for UF
as any alumnus ever.

UAA didn't win any games, but their practice facility, stadium, etc
improvements sure have been instrumental in winning football. And, of
course, winning football brings in more people like ourselves who then feel
good/better about giving to the University.

As Helen said, it takes money to make money. (I think it was Helen)

Anyway, I suppose this is a dead horse and I could just stop beating it.

If you believe so strongly they shouldn't erect those statues, I guess all

lawyers, that's what we really need! Again, just joking!!)

Correct, although I give to the University as a whole and the Alumni
Association (not the UAA or the Law School, directly). As part of the local
alumni group, I have also created a program and raised money for need-based
partial scholarships for local kids that are enrolling at UF.

At any rate, your whole argument is moot. The donations came from private
donors, not UAA. These are some rich guys who can do anything they want
with their money.

You are correct, and I had missed this point the first time around.
