Aren't all HD signals protected via HDMI? I don't think that it is
specific to SunSports.
If a device fails the handshake, the digital signal ceases.
The workaround is a DVI connection if supported (most cable boxes no
longer support DVI for this reason) or switching to the RGB component
cables and using them as the input (or even the lesser quality yellow
composite jack).

Anyone tried to put something from Sun Sports on a DVD and get a
copy protection notice? I recorded Muschamp's press conference
Tuesday (a DirecTV DVR) and tried to copy it to a DVD today. Nope.
About a minute into the copying, the DVD recorder flashed a "copy
protected" note on the screen, and stopped recording.
Has Sun Sports started putting some sort of copyright signal on
their broadcasts that prevents making DVD copies? Anyone else seen
this?
