I recently downloaded the Lite version and installed it on a machine I'm using to protect a small home network. Although I'm a competent network and firewall administrator and even though the GNAT box admin interface is not very difficult I was unable to get the box totally functional.
I was able to get the box to obtain an address from my ISP (DHCP). I was also able to figure out how to register it and how to get the serial number and feature codes updated (not the easiest thing if you misread the email <grin>). I was also able to get the admin program to connect and make configuration changes to the box. Here are the things that I was unable to do: 1) Get basic DNS requests to flow to/through the box. 2) Find any way to use the box as a DHCP server on my local subnet. (This was not essential - but the help seems to indicate that this is a feature of the software.) Also, after failing with the lite version I downloaded the demo copy and I was not any more successful with it. I do not have a comlex setup - basic cable modem with DHCP on the ISP side and a small hub with a few clients on the back side. No DMZ and no port forwarding required.
