It appears that the problem is that I misunderstood how GNATBox Lite worked.
Every other firewall that I have recently used worked as a DNS proxy as well
as a DHCP server. In those cases, the box worked as a DNS cache and
forwarder - and so that internal machines used the internal firewall address
as the DNS server. This makes it simpler since the ISP DNS server can
change from time to time which automatically would get updated on the
firewall due to the DHCP client. After I figured this out, I was able to
set my client PC's to use the external DNS IP of the ISP and everything
worked.

At this point I'm afraid that GNATbox forces me to make too many compromises
to fit into my environment. I like the basic look/feel of the product, but
I'm going to go back to another firewall for now. I have several good
options both floppy based and non-floppy based. I haven't found anything in
this firewall that will make the lack of DHCP and lack of DNS forwarding
worth the effort.

Thanks for all of your help, the one good thing I can say is that this list
was quite helpful and friendly.
