Sorry, I should have said that before trying to build Firefox I'd done an svn update (a couple of hours ago), so any fixes which are in the repository are also here. I also installed xorg-x11-devel. However, I've /not/ made the changes you referred to doing "manually" - e.g. adding an autoconf symlink. Also, I don't know if old builds of dependencies might cause problems?
