For the default param problem, how about this: - Have an Opera-specific CabUpdaterOpera class that derives from the common CabUpdater. - Have the installer implementation classes (VersionFetchTask, PeriodicChecker) take a BrowsingContext pointer. On IEMobile we just pass NULL.
