I was seeing this in Firefox 3.5.2. My setting for "Accept third-party
cookies"
option was deselected. I changed this to selected (i.e. allow third-party
cookies),
reattempted offline gmail install and it worked this time.
I haven't dug deeply enough to figure out why I have to allow 3rd party
cookies to
get it to work, but it does.
