Hello Greg,
We have about 40 halogen lights that sit directly on our metal screen tops.
We have moved away from the metal dome type lights in favor of the smaller
halogen hockey-puck style though. I have not seen a decrease in bulb life
vs. the fixtures that do not sit directly on screens. It is always very
important not to put lamps above plastic screen or non-tempered glass.
