Some nocturnal geckos hide in crevices, under rocks, in caves, tunnels etc.
during the day, so there's little or no UV getting to them. Others hang out on
tree trunks or in shrubs (Uroplatus come to mind) where they can get direct
exposure to UV. Even in a fairly dense shrub, a U. phantasticus would be getting
some UV. U. fimbriatus and henkeli hanging on a tree trunk would be exposed to
it as well. Nocturnal doesn't necessarily mean no UV needed. I consider where
they normally spend the daylight hours, and do their lighting accordingly.

There are also some, like Hemidactylus that will come out of hiding and bask
during the day. They would also benefit from UV lights.

I'm to the point where any gecko that doesn't outright hide in caves or
underground gets UV lights.
